Fort Defoor
I do not have a lot of information about this restoration however I am posting it as it's a very unique structure. The main problem here came because the structure is so close to the ground and because it was built right on top of the ground. The customer was very concerned about the building as there is some beautiful wood joinery that is very pleasing to the eye. The main rot problem they had to deal with was the support posts themselves. Note the detailed carving for the support.
This type of repair would involve removing the rotten wood, drilling holes into the log on a downward angle and then filling them up with CPES.
A thick past using Layup & Laminating resin mixed with sawdust is created. One would completely fill the cavities with this or use it to glue replacement wood into the cavities.
